Three years with a lawyer and got denied anyway
I hired a disability lawyer in Fresno back in 2021. Paid them $400 upfront for the paperwork. After 3 years of waiting and them telling me to just be patient, got my denial letter last Tuesday. They never even asked for my medical records from my specialist. Anyone else have a lawyer just sit on your case and collect the fee?

Oh man, that is SO frustrating and honestly not surprising at all. A lot of these disability lawyers just take the upfront fee and then do the bare minimum (or less). You really need to fire them and file a complaint with the State Bar of California. For your next try, look for a lawyer who works on contingency - no money upfront, they only get paid if you win. Also, make sure you send in ALL your medical records yourself, or at least follow up to confirm the lawyer did. Three years with no medical records from your specialist is just plain negligence on their part, sorry you went through that.

That $400 upfront fee should have been a red flag. My crew subcontracted a lawyer once who pulled the same thing, took the money and never pulled records from the ortho doctor we told them about. Fire them ASAP and file with the state bar like the other commenter said.
