Hit my first $10k emergency fund yesterday

I was always skeptical about saving that much. But when my car transmission went out last week, I paid cash and didn't even flinch. Have any of you set a milestone that felt impossible until you actually hit it?

Man that water heater thing is brutal. I know three people who had that happen. They all had to use credit cards too. The interest is what really kills you. That $5k is solid though. Keep going. You'll hit $10k faster than you think.

Oh man, I used to be the biggest skeptic of that whole save money thing too. Like I'd see people bragging about their emergency funds and think "what's the point, you can't take it with you." But then my water heater exploded and flooded half my basement last year. Had to put the whole repair on a credit card and it took me almost a year to pay it off with interest. That's when it clicked for me. Started putting away just $50 a week and now I'm almost at $5k. It feels totally different knowing I've got my own back if something breaks.
