Spent 6 hours tracking down a hostel in Portland that closed 3 years ago

I was trying to book a bed at the Northwest Portland Hostel near the train station, the one that used to be $25 a night back in 2018. Turns out Google Maps still lists it as open but when I called, the number was disconnected. Ended up walking around for 45 minutes in the rain before a barista told me it got turned into condos. Has anyone else run into old listings throwing off your whole trip budget?

Honestly read something recently about how Google Maps never updates old business listings. That's rough about the hostel, Portland's gotten way pricier since 2018.

Yeah always call the day of or check their actual website before you head out. I've learned that one the hard way too many times. Google Maps is great for directions but trash for checking if a place still exists.
