My uncle said to book flights on a Tuesday night, and I saved $180
He told me airlines often drop prices late on Tuesdays, so I set an alarm for 11 PM. I checked a flight to Mexico City that was $400 all day, and sure enough, it was down to $220. I grabbed it right then and there. Has anyone else found a specific time of day that works better for deals?

Actually the Tuesday thing is a bit of a myth these days. Airlines use complex pricing now that updates all the time. What you saw was probably just a normal price drop that happened to be on a Tuesday. The real trick is to be flexible with your dates and check often, not just one specific time. Clearing your cookies or using a private browser can sometimes help too, so they don't hike the price on you. Glad you got a good deal though, that's a solid win.

Yeah the part about clearing cookies or using a private browser is so true. I used to totally believe in the Tuesday rule, swore by it for years. But you're right, after getting burned a few times by prices jumping around on random days, I had to let that old idea go. Being flexible and checking a lot is the only thing that really seems to work now.

Honestly, it's like that with so many old rules of thumb now. Like @emmag22 said, things just change too fast. I used to think gas was always cheaper on a Wednesday, or that you had to buy a car at the end of the month. Tbh, none of it holds up anymore. You just have to check and be ready to move when you see a good price, for flights or anything else. Feels like all the old tricks got figured out by the systems.
