I gave up on fancy meal kits and went back to my old way of planning

I tried one of those weekly box services for three months, thinking it would save me time and cash. It was costing me about $75 a week for just three dinners. Last week I went back to my old method of writing a list based on the store flyer and buying basics like rice, beans, and whatever veg was on sale. I spent $45 and got food for five nights, plus lunches. The difference was just looking at the actual prices instead of letting someone else pick for me. Anyone have a good go-to recipe for when chicken thighs are on sale?

Ugh, but @cameronjenkins has a point, that price is wild.

Actually that price sounds about right for quality ingredients these days. Everything's gotten so expensive, you know? Not surprised at all.

Wait, was that $75 for just the three meal kits or did that include other groceries? That seems super high! My old go-to for chicken thighs is just to bake them with lemon pepper, so easy.
