Can we talk about the great lentil explosion of last Tuesday
I was making a big pot of soup in my kitchen and the bag of lentils I got from the discount bin had a tiny hole I didn't see. Poured them in and they went everywhere, like a brown waterfall all over the stove and floor. Spent 20 minutes picking them up one by one because my vacuum is broken. Anyone have a better cheap protein that doesn't require a hazmat suit to cook?

Man, that sounds like a nightmare. I've been there with a bag of split peas, and they rolled under every single appliance. Lentils really do have a weird bounce to them. For cheap protein, canned beans are my go-to now because at least the spill is contained to the can.

Honestly lentils are pretty tame. Try dropping a bag of quinoa sometime. Those tiny grains get into everything, like sandy glitter. They bounce twice as far as lentils on a hard floor. At least you can see the brown ones.

Yeah quinoa is the worst for cleanup. I spilled some on my kitchen tile once and found grains under the fridge a week later. They're so light they just float away on any little breeze.
