Shoutout to the $15 thrift store slow cooker I got in Tacoma

It's been cooking meals for me three times a week for over a year now, which saves a ton on takeout. I just made a big pot of chili that cost maybe $8 total for all the ingredients. Anyone else have a cheap kitchen gadget that's still going strong?

Got a brand you'd actually trust that cheap?

That chili cost is a bit low unless you already had the spices. A full batch with meat, beans, tomatoes, and fresh peppers usually runs me closer to twelve bucks these days. Still way cheaper than takeout, but food prices have gone up a lot. Your slow cooker is definitely earning its keep.

What about a cheap can opener? Mine was like three bucks at a grocery store years ago. It looks awful and the handle is cracked, but it still works perfectly. I refuse to replace it because it's become a weird point of pride. Those simple tools that just won't quit are the real kitchen heroes.
