PSA: my "quick" $15 faucet repair ate my whole Saturday

Went to swap a worn washer in my kitchen sink, figured 20 minutes tops. Three trips to Lowe's later, I had to replace the whole cartridge and the shutoff valve because the old one was seized. Anyone else have a 'small fix' that turned into a full project?
