Can we talk about the "budget" label on tools that cost double after shipping
I was shopping for a circular saw a few weeks back and found one listed at $79 from a discount site. Looked great until checkout added $28 for shipping plus a $12 "handling fee." That's $119 total, which is more than the store down the street wanted for a brand name model on sale. I get that warehouse shipping costs money, but calling something budget when the final price is higher than a regular store is misleading. I see this on big items especially, like power tools and even some furniture. Is it just me, or do other people add up the full cost before calling something a deal? How do you spot these hidden fee traps before you commit?

Check the seller's return policy and final price before you even click add to cart, then search the model number on Google Shopping to see what other sites charge with shipping included. I always sort by total cost, not sticker price, and filter out anything with surprise fees in the reviews. Tbh, if the site hides shipping until checkout, that's a red flag on its own, and I just walk away.

Surprise fees" is the exact reason I stopped buying from random sites. I got burned once on a "cheap" gadget that doubled in price at checkout. Good point about Google Shopping too, @logan236. I always check there now before committing. And yeah, hidden shipping is a dealbreaker for me. Walk away, not worth the headache.
