Watched a guy in Tucson once who just hosed the pile down real quick (like, not even a minute). Whole wall looked like a dried-up riverbed by noon.

My buddy tried that quick spray method on his patio slab last summer. It looked okay for maybe two hours before it all cracked into a weird spiderweb pattern. He spent the whole next weekend chipping it out to start over.

Our crew in Vegas soaks bricks for a full hour before a summer pour. The extra time stops that surface crust from forming too early. It's the only way we get a solid bond when it's 110 out.
