That sample table guy at Costco in Boise told me the mac and cheese has 900mg of sodium per cup
Last Saturday I was at the Costco on Cole Road in Boise and this guy running the sample table let me try the new mac and cheese bites. I asked him how bad they were for me and he flipped the box over, 900mg of sodium in one cup. That is almost half what I am supposed to have in a whole day. He told me most people grab 2 or 3 boxes without ever reading the label, which kind of blew my mind. Do you all actually read the sodium numbers before you add something to your cart, or is that just me overthinking it?
Been there man, got burned by the same thing with those frozen burritos I used to eat every day for lunch. What helped me was setting a simple rule, I only look at the sodium number if it is something I plan to eat more than once a week. For a one time treat I just eat it and move on, but for stuff that becomes a habit I check it every time. The trick is knowing your daily limit and roughly what you have already eaten, because 900mg is not terrible on its own but it adds up fast if you eat it a few days in a row. Also watch the serving size, a lot of these boxes say one cup but the package has like three cups in it, so people eat the whole thing and get way more than they thought. That sample guy was doing you a favor by flipping the box over, most of them just want you to buy it.
