The cheap bone folder that ruined my expensive one
I bought a 4 dollar plastic bone folder at a craft fair in Portland last spring just to have a spare, and now I grab it every single time over the 30 dollar acrylic one I've used for years. The plastic one has a bit of flex that makes scoring heavy cardstock feel more controlled, and the edge is just sharp enough without gouging. My old folder sits in the drawer and I honestly don't know if I'll ever go back. Anyone else find that the budget tool wins out for no logical reason?

My bone folder story is almost the same. Bought a $2 wooden one off a clearance bin at Blick like 6 years ago, and my $25 Teflon one has been collecting dust ever since. The wood one got this worn smooth tip after a few months that just glides across paper, and the weight feels right in my hand. I even tried going back to the fancy one last Christmas for a big card project and gave up after like ten minutes. Sometimes cheap tools just fit your hand better and there's no real reason for it.
