I thought using a bone folder from the craft store was fine until a project in Boston
I was working on a leather journal for a client in Boston and my cheap plastic folder left faint marks on the cover. A binder there told me to try a real bone or Teflon one, and it made a huge difference with no scratches. Has anyone else had a tool let them down on a nice piece of leather?

What kind of leather was it?

Honestly that fake leather stuff is everywhere now, like they want us to just accept junk that falls apart. Derek's right about the gas station wallet feel, it's the same garbage on cheap belts and car seats. Feels like everything's made to be thrown out after a few months. Makes you miss when things were built to last more than one season.

What kind of leather was it?" Seriously, Holly? It was the cheap, plastic-feeling kind that peels after one rain. The kind you find on a wallet at a gas station. You know, the stuff that cracks if you look at it wrong. I bet you've got a belt made of the same sad material, Holly.
