Wasted $40 on a book club pick everyone else loved

Our group in Omaha chose 'The Midnight Library' last quarter, and I bought the hardcover new. I just could not get into it, the whole 'what if' premise felt super repetitive after 100 pages. Ended up donating it after the meeting where everyone else raved. Anyone else buy a book for club that they ended up hating?

Ugh, what did they all love about it?

Yeah but I gotta disagree with you on this one, @christopherwilson. The way it handled the ending felt really honest to me, even if it was rough. It didn't try to tie everything up with a neat bow, and I liked that. It made the whole story stick with me longer. Maybe it just hit different for some of us.

Honestly, I read a review that said the same thing as @jamesm38. It pointed out how the main character just walks away at the end, and you never see if things get fixed. That felt more real than some big, happy finish. It's like life, not everything gets solved.
