The audio book that changed our club's whole vibe in one meeting

We picked a memoir thinking it'd be a light month, but someone played the first 10 minutes of the author narrating their own story and the whole room shifted. That raw voice made us argue about whether print even matters anymore, and now we're stuck on format debates for every pick. Has your club ever split down the middle over audio vs paper?

Our club hit the same wall with a Stephen King audiobook. Lasted two meetings before we just agreed to split the vote, half listened, half read, and spent the whole time comparing scenes. Never went back to format rules after that.

Man, that brings back a memory! My buddy Dave's club did the exact same thing with a thriller, and @mark_price is right, they ended up doing the split vote thing too, but the real kicker was when two members almost stopped talking over whether a twist hit harder in audio or on paper.
