Our club's biggest fight was over the word 'cozy' in a 2023 novel

I brought up how the book club in Denver had a 45 minute argument about whether a certain thriller could be called cozy just because the murders happened off page. Half the room said the tone decides it, the other half said body count matters more. We actually split into two mini groups last month to re-read it with different lenses and came back with totally different votes. Has anyone else had a single word derail an entire discussion for you?

45 minutes over cozy? That's got to be some kind of record for a book club meltdown. Splitting into re-read factions is next level commitment, I almost respect it.
