Discovered the pipe marker trick for rebar layout after 12 years

I was fighting a rebar layout on a tank foundation in Tulsa, kept losing my marks in the mud. Grabbed a soapstone pipe marker from my pouch and drew bold circles around each rod. That simple thing saved me from re-measuring twice, and the inspector actually complimented the visibility. Has anyone else found a random tool that solved a layout headache?

Soapstone marks fade fast in wet mud, you probably want a paint pen or crayon for that. But yeah, anything that keeps your eyes on the grid beats re-pulling tape every time.
