Am I the only one who had a weird time with that new high-temp gasket from Industrial Supply?
I used it on a 500 psi boiler at the Miller plant last week, and it held fine for the hydro test but started weeping after two days of full steam. My foreman says it's because I didn't let the sealant cure long enough in the cold, but the spec sheet said 24 hours and I gave it 30. Has anyone else run into this, or should I just stick with the old red silicone from now on?

Did Eric check the batch number on that acidic etch? I heard the first run had a bad mix that wouldn't bond below 50 degrees, and they quietly swapped it out. Could your supply house have old stock sitting in a cold warehouse?

That batch recall was only for the west coast, brian328.

Wait, are you sure you used the right primer? That new gasket needs their specific acidic etch, not the standard one. The generic stuff doesn't bite into the surface the same way in the cold.
