Just lost a whole game night arguing about house rules

Tried a new group last month. They had a binder of custom rules for Catan. Spent 45 minutes debating a sheep port change. Never even finished setup. Wasted my whole Friday. Anyone know chill groups in the Cincinnati area?

My buddy once quit a group over a ten minute debate on Monopoly's Free Parking cash.

That Free Parking debate is a real group killer. We made a house rule card before starting so everyone agreed on the cash rule. It saved a lot of friendships (and game nights).

Used to think the free parking cash was a fun bonus. Then I saw it drag a four player game out for two extra hours. Now I just play by the actual rules, no money on free parking. Games end faster and people stay friends.
