Bought a $200 "beginner" board game collection and regretted it immediately

I saw a deal on a bundle of 5 classic board games for about $200, thinking it'd be a good way to get into the hobby. Turned out three of them had missing pieces, one had a torn board, and the rules were so poorly translated I couldn't make sense of them. Total waste of money, and now I'm stuck trying to piece together replacements or just chucking them. Anyone else get burned by those mystery bundles online?

The "beginner" part of that bundle is what gets me. $200 is way too much for that kind of gamble, most real board game shops would sell you three solid entry level games for that price, not five broken ones. Missing pieces and torn boards means someone probably bought returns and repackaged them. If you can, do a chargeback with your credit card company because that's not a collection, that's damaged goods being sold as new.

lol @williamb29 you're acting like they sold you a car with no engine. missing pieces happen in board games all the time, its not that deep. torn boxes are annoying but who cares about the box if the game still works? $200 for five games is like $40 each which isnt even bad compared to what new games cost. idk why everyone jumps to chargebacks and fraud claims over a few scuffed corners. maybe send a message to the seller first before burning bridges lol
