Just read that some vintage Campagnolo derailleur springs were made from a specific Swedish steel alloy

Found it in an old tech bulletin from the late 70s I was flipping through at a swap meet. It was called 20AP, and they claimed it had a crazy high fatigue life. Anyone ever had to source a modern replacement for one of those old springs?

Swedish steel in a derailleur spring is a wild detail.

My old Shimano spring never broke after years of abuse.

Wait, you're telling me they used special Swedish steel just for springs? That's wild. I had to find a replacement for a broken spring on my old Campy setup last year. Ended up using a generic spring from a hardware store that fit the dimensions, and it's been fine for light riding. Karen_Roberts4 is right that some springs just last forever, but when they don't, you gotta get creative. Honestly, I doubt you'll find that exact alloy now unless you get lucky with old stock somewhere.
