Hot take: That 'simple' bottom bracket replacement took me 6 hours

I finally decided to swap out the bottom bracket on my old hybrid bike, something I figured would be a quick hour job tops. Got my tools ready, pulled the cranks, and then the cup on the non-drive side just would not budge. I spent a full hour just trying to break it loose with a breaker bar, almost stripped the splines twice. Then I realized I forgot to grease the new one before installation lol, so I had to pull it back out. By the time I got it all torqued down and the cranks back on, the sun had gone down and I was covered in grease. What's the longest a 'quick' repair has actually taken you?

I feel you on that stripped splines panic. My "quick" derailleur adjustment turned into a whole afternoon.

Jumped into a derailleur adjustment last summer and ended up replacing the whole cable housing. Wound up with four skinned knuckles and a bike that still shifted like garbage for two weeks. Figured out I'd bent the hanger somewhere along the way.
