That $2 shelf full of old National Geographics turned into a 14-year collection
Found a whole box of National Geographic magazines from the 80s at a garage sale in Columbus for like $2. I figured I'd flip through a few for the vintage ads and maybe wallpaper my garage with the maps. Turns out the guy selling them had been the original owner since 1987 and had kept every single issue in plastic sleeves. I ended up buying all 32 of them and spent the whole weekend reading about extinct species and old Cold War tech. Now I'm up to 214 issues total and I've started hunting for the missing years at estate sales every Saturday. Anyone else get sucked into collecting one specific thing from a junk pile and can't stop now?

Blame those old cigarette ads in the 80s issues... they pulled me into collecting vintage brands and now I've got 400 packs in a closet. Started with one rusty tin coffee can at a flea market, now I'm digging through dead relatives' basements. It's a sickness, but the thrill of finding one missing piece beats any therapy.
