Shoutout to the old guy who watched me hold my clippers wrong for a year
I was doing a basic taper at my shop in Tacoma last Tuesday, and a retired barber named Ray finally spoke up. He said, 'Kid, you're gripping those clippers like you're trying to choke them, it's why your lines shake.' I switched to a lighter, palm-up hold he showed me, and my next fade was way smoother. Has anyone else had a simple grip change make that big a difference?

Totally... grip is everything. That light touch feels weird at first but man does it help.

My old instructor drilled the death grip into us for years. Swore it was the only way to control the club. Tried the light pressure thing last season out of pure frustration. Shaved four strokes off my average round by the third week. Couldn't believe how much cleaner the strike felt. Completely changed my mind on this one.
