Found out a full 40% of my clients can't name a single guard size

Read that in a survey from the Barber Board newsletter last Tuesday and it clicked why my fades take so much explaining. Anyone else just hand guys the clipper and let them feel the difference instead?

Ever try asking what number they want on the sides?

You ever try explaining a 1 to a 3 to someone who thinks a "number 1" means the longest setting? I had a guy last month swear he wanted a 2 on the sides, then got mad when it wasn't a skin fade. My bad for not being a mind reader, I guess. @christopherwilson asking the number works right up until they say "medium short" and stare at you like that's a real measurement. So yeah, I've started just running the clipper up once and letting the buzz do the talking. Saves us both ten minutes of charades.
