Appreciation post: My $85 bench scraper saved a whole batch of sticky dough

I was making a big batch of sourdough in my home kitchen and the dough stuck to my counter like glue. I grabbed my new Dexter-Russell scraper and it cleaned the surface in seconds, saving the whole mix. Has anyone else found a simple tool that makes a huge difference on messy days?

Eighty-five bucks for a dough scraper... I guess if it works it works, but my old putty knife from the hardware store does the same thing for like six dollars.

My grandma's old metal spatula has a permanent bend in it from prying up a giant sheet of sugar cookies when I was twelve. I still reach for it first when anything sticks, even though I own three fancy scrapers. That bent tool just feels right in my hand after all these years.
