My zucchini plants THRIVED when I ignored the spacing rules

Everyone says to space them way out, but my small plot forced me to plant them close. I was sure they would fail from crowding. Then I saw they kept the soil shaded and bugs AWAY. Now I get a bigger harvest from my tight rows. Sometimes breaking the rules just WORKS.

What about pollination in close plants, @thomaspatel?

I crowded my zucchini too and they went crazy lmao. The shade helped keep the soil moist and bugs away.

Back in my old community garden plot, I packed zucchini plants close together. Honestly, I thought they'd choke each other out, but the opposite happened. The dense leaves kept the soil cool and stopped pests from getting in. Tbh, the spacing rules are more for perfect conditions, not real world gardening. Ngl, I get way more zucchini now by ignoring the guidelines. Sometimes you just have to try what works for your space.
