My grandpa always said to plant my carrots after the first full moon in May.
I tried it last spring, and honestly, my harvest was the best I've ever had, with super straight roots and no forking. He swore it was about the soil temperature and moisture being just right at that time. Has anyone else had luck with planting by the moon phases, or is it just an old wives' tale?

My uncle plants potatoes by the moon and swears it works. Makes you wonder if it's less about magic and more about sticking to a strict schedule you wouldn't keep otherwise.

It's like how I only clean my whole apartment when I'm putting off a work deadline. The structure forces the action.

My grandpa had the same rule for his tomatoes, and they were always huge. @milessmith is onto something with the schedule part, because I'd never water so regularly without that old calendar reminder. Have you tried it with any other veggies?
