The day I realized I was loading the dishwasher wrong for 15 years

I grew up thinking you always put plates facing inward so the spray hits them directly. My sister in law Karen came over for Thanksgiving at my house in Dayton and she laughed out loud when she saw how I loaded it. Turns out you're supposed to face them toward the center so water drains off, not into the concave side. She showed me that the detergent tablet wasn't even dissolving properly half the time. Anyone else been doing some kitchen chore wrong for decades without realizing it?

Ok but heres the thing nobody is talking about - this only works if you're actually paying attention to the specific way they show it. Like I tried it on my laptop and it totally didnt work because I was clicking the wrong button the whole time. The demo they show is super clean but in real life you gotta account for the messiness of your actual setup. My friends mom showed me a trick that makes it way easier if you hold down shift first but thats a whole other thing.

Oh MAN did I have this same moment a few years back! I was loading plates all wrong for like a decade and my buddy just watched me do it and shook his head. I used to pack everything in there so tight like I was playing dishwasher Tetris, blocking the spray arm and everything. The worst part was I'd find these little chunks of food still stuck on cups and just assumed my machine was junk.
