My buddy called me out on my "fine" habit and it hit weird

I was at a diner with my friend Mike last Saturday and he asked how my job was going. I said "fine" like I always do, but then he looked at me and said "bro you say that about everything, is anything actually good?" and it kinda stopped me in my tracks. He pointed out I say "fine" for food, movies, weather, everything, and it made me realize I just default to that word instead of actually thinking about how I feel. Has anyone else had a friend or family member call out some random word you overuse and it made you rethink your whole vibe?

Read somewhere that people who default to "fine" are actually avoiding vulnerability, and it lowkey made me realize I do the same thing without noticing.
