Back in the day, my dad would record every birthday on a camcorder and make us reenact blowing out candles.
Watching those tapes now is pure cringe fuel because of our forced smiles, haha.

My aunt Linda insisted on filming every Christmas dinner. We all had to hold our forks up and smile while the food got cold. Watching those now, the forced cheer is almost funny.

Aunt Linda made you hold forks until the gravy congealed? I can't imagine letting the food get that cold. The turkey must have been like rubber by the time you finally ate. The mashed potatoes probably turned into a gluey mess. All for a video that shows everyone smiling through chattering teeth. It's sad that the memory is more about the cold food than the family time.
