Update: I finally got the intermittent comms fault on that Gulfstream G280 to show itself by leaving the system powered and just gently flexing the harness behind the overhead panel for 20 minutes straight.

Honestly, I was about to start swapping LRUs after two days of chasing ghosts, but my lead at the Dallas hangar told me to just 'wiggle it with the juice on' and bam, the static popped right up on the test set.
