A customer's old photo made my week
Last Thursday, a guy brought in his '89 Ford pickup for a timing belt. While I was working, he showed me a faded picture from his glove box of the truck the day he bought it, brand new. He pointed at the engine bay and said, 'You know, you're the third person to ever work on this motor.' It was just me, the original dealer tech, and some guy in '98. Happened right there in my bay in Tacoma. That simple comment, about keeping something running for 35 years, really stuck with me. It's not about the big jobs, sometimes. Ever have a small moment with a customer that just hit right?

Oh man, that's the good stuff right there. It's a real connection, you know? That guy trusted you with a piece of his history. It shows you're doing more than just turning wrenches, you're keeping a story alive. Those quiet moments are what make the job worth it.

My buddy fixed a '72 Nova for a widow.
