Rant: I thought paintless dent guys were hacks till I watched one work on a 2016 Silverado
Always figured PDR was just glue pulling and wishful thinking, so I turned down a hail job in Waco back in March and sent the guy to a body shop instead. Customer brought the truck back to me two weeks later with 14 dents still there, so I called a PDR tech named Marcus who worked it in my bay while I watched. He spent 40 minutes on a crease over the rear wheel well and it came out cleaner than I could have done with filler, so now I'm eating my words. Any of you cross train your guys on PDR or do you just farm it out?
That line about eating your words got me, I did the same thing with a plumber last year after swearing I could snake a main myself. Forty minutes on one crease is real patience though, most guys I know would've reached for the drill by minute ten.
Forty minutes on one crease sounds less like patience and more like being stubborn about doing it himself honestly. Most guys grab the drill because they already know how long hand work takes, not because they are lazy. You paid a plumber last year after the same kind of mess, so what did that really set you back, a couple hundred bucks? Sometimes calling the pro right away is cheaper than the afternoon you lose fighting it. @rubys80 do you really think one crease was worth forty minutes of his day, or was he just too proud to stop?
