That time a guy at the Varsity told me his whole life story about hot dog condiments
I was grabbing a chili dog at the Varsity on North Avenue last Saturday and this older man just sat down next to me and started explaining why he puts coleslaw on his hot dogs instead of mustard. He said his grandma started doing it in 1972 and he hasn't touched a yellow mustard bottle since. Has anyone else had a complete stranger just unload their condiment philosophy on them like that?

Gotta wonder if this is a weird Southern thing where everyone just TELLS YOU their whole deal without warning. I had a guy at a gas station explain his entire method for picking out watermelons once, like thumping them and feeling the weight and all that. He even showed me which one he thought was the best one on the pile and I ended up buying it just to be nice. That watermelon was actually pretty good though, so maybe there's something to listening to random strangers.

One time at a Waffle House this guy told me the entire history of his favorite sock brand while I was just trying to eat my hashbrowns scattered and covered. He went on for like ten minutes about how he bought his first pair in 1989 at a mall in Macon and they outlasted every other sock he ever owned. I didn't even ask him about socks, I just nodded and said "huh" every now and then.
