Overheard a neighbor talking about the 285 toll lanes and it changed my mind

I was dead set against those express lanes on 285. Thought they were just a cash grab. Then my neighbor said he pays $4.50 each way and saves 25 minutes from Smyrna to Doraville. That math hit different. 50 minutes a day times 20 work days equals 16 hours a month. I finally got the Peach Pass last Thursday. Still feels wrong but I can't argue with getting home by 5:30 instead of 6. Anybody else cave and buy one?

And @laura_allen nailed it with the weather spike thing, I noticed the same jump during a random Tuesday hailstorm and it shot up to almost $8. That EV discount is legit too, I checked my Honda Fit and nope, but anyone with a hybrid or EV should definitely look into it before they start paying full price.

The real catch nobody talks about is how the toll prices spike during bad weather or big events. I ran into a $7.50 trip last month during a Friday afternoon storm and almost spit out my coffee. Also check if your car qualifies for the special EV or hybrid discount, it drops the price by like 40 percent and my buddy didn't find out for six months.
