Vent: My garbage disposal gave up right before a big family dinner

Honestly, it happened last Saturday around 4 PM, just as I was starting to prep veggies for six people. I flipped the switch and heard this awful grinding noise, then nothing but a low hum. I tried the little hex key to manually turn it, but it was totally seized. I had to reach in and pull out a bunch of gunk and what looked like a peach pit my kid must have dropped. I ended up having to clear the sink with a bucket and do all the dishes by hand for the whole meal, which was a huge pain. Tbh, I've had that disposal for about eight years, so I guess it was time. Has anyone had luck fixing a totally stuck one, or is it always a full replacement at that point?

Tried the reset button under the unit, that got mine going again for a while.

I read that a seized one usually means it's done for.
