Found my washing machine hose had a tiny crack yesterday
Water was pooling on the floor and I figured it was the seal but nope, a pin hole in the hose about a inch from the connection. It only cost me $12 for a new hose from Ace Hardware, any tips on checking for these things before they cause a flood?

Four months ago I had the exact same thing happen with our washer in the basement. The hose had a tiny pinhole right near the brass fitting where it connects to the wall. I bought a 5 pack of stainless steel braided hoses from Home Depot for about 25 bucks which is way cheaper than dealing with water damage. The trick I learned from my plumber neighbor is to feel along the whole hose while the machine is running, you will literally feel a tiny spray or wet spot if there's a leak. He also told me to replace rubber hoses every 3 to 5 years no matter what because they get brittle from the heat and pressure cycles. The braided ones last longer but you still want to check the connection points every month or two when you do laundry. Also make sure the hose isn't kinked or pinched behind the machine because that creates weak spots over time.
