Shoutout to the crew that helped with the big oak removal in Greenville last Tuesday

We had this massive white oak leaning over a house, and the homeowner was really nervous. Our foreman, Dave, spent a full hour just looking at the lean and the power lines before he even picked up a saw. He had us rig a line from a healthy pine across the yard to guide it down in pieces. Anyone else have a go-to method for a tight drop zone with a bad lean like that?

Used to think you just had to cut and hope for the best in those spots. Watching a crew handle a silver maple over a garage last year changed my mind. They did that same thing, spent forever setting a pull line from a different tree. Made it look easy, dropping limb-sized pieces right into the driveway. Why rush it when you can rig it safe, right?

That crew probably added an hour to the job setting that line. The peace of mind knowing you won't put a branch through the roof is worth every minute. It's the difference between a gamble and a planned result.

My old boss used to say an extra hour of rigging saves a ten thousand dollar roof repair. Seeing a big limb swing away from a house instead of into it makes all that setup time feel like nothing. It's not about being slow, it's about being sure. That planned result Brian talks about lets you sleep well at night. Emery's right, once you see it done the safe way, you can't go back to just hoping.
