That guy who insisted every fridge compressor swap needs a new start relay
Had a chat with an old timer at a supply house in Cleveland who told me he's been reusing original start relays for 20 years without issues. I've always replaced them as part of the job, but now I'm wondering if I've been wasting money and time on parts that don't need swapping. Anyone else ever skip the relay swap and regret it later?

Jump right in and replace it anyway. I see this same pattern everywhere with people thinking they've got a "hack" that works forever until it costs them double. My buddy skipped cleaning the contacts on his furnace flame sensor for three years because it "still lit fine" then it killed the whole ignition board mid winter. Parts are cheap compared to callbacks or damage.
