Vent: I keep seeing people mix up 'filler' and 'anime original' content in discussions, and it's spreading wrong info.

Yeah the whole "filler vs anime original" thing got me too. I used to call any non-manga episode filler. But then I saw shows like Cowboy Bebop which is all original and amazing, or the Greed Island arc in Hunter x Hunter 2011 which adds stuff that actually helps. It made me realize some original content is planned and good, while filler is just time-wasting padding like Naruto's endless flashbacks.

Exactly. The real difference is intent. Filler is lazy padding to kill time because the anime caught up. Good original content is actually planned to add something, like expanding a fight or a character moment. Naruto flashbacks are the perfect example of the bad kind.

How do you even tell the difference when you're starting a new show? I check if an arc is "anime canon" first, which usually means it was planned to add something. True filler just recycles animation and repeats the same flashback three times in one episode. I skip those episodes completely now, using a guide. It saves so much time and keeps the story moving.
