That free AI summarizer tool I tried kept missing the main point of articles
I was using an online AI summarizer for weeks to get through long news pieces faster. Then I noticed it would skip key details like specific numbers or dates that were the whole reason I was reading. For example it summarized a housing article and left out the part about rent going up 18% in Austin last year. I checked three different free tools and they all did the same thing with dropping important data points. Now I just read the first and last paragraphs of articles and get better info in less time. Has anyone else found a free summarizer that actually keeps the numbers in?

Yo that thing about the length setting reminded me - my buddy Tom tried the same trick. He bumped the summary length to max on one of those tools thinking it would grab all the details. But it just gave him longer summaries that still skipped the hard numbers. He was reading an article about water usage in California and it straight up left out the part saying usage dropped 8%. He screenshotted it to show me the original vs summary side by side. Now he just skims the article headers like a normal person and says its faster lol. The tools seem to rewrite stuff in a way that smooths over exact stats, like theyre programmed to make it flow better but lose precision.

Stick with the first and last paragraphs trick, that's solid advice. Did you at least try adjusting the length setting on any of those tools before giving up, I found some let you pick a longer summary that might catch those numbers. What specific article topics seem to hit the skips the most.
