Seeing AI tools for tree health checks pop up. Makes me nervous.

My team looks at bark and leaves directly. These new programs scan photos to find disease. I ran some images through, got false alarms on solid maples. Trusting this too much might mean cutting down good trees.

How serious is it really if the AI makes mistakes but we catch them?

Okay, but let's not blow this out of proportion. AI is just starting out, so of course it makes mistakes. Those false alarms on your maples are annoying, but they don't mean the whole system is broken. It's a tool, not a replacement for knowing what you're doing. If you panic and cut down good trees, that's on you for not checking yourself. Give it time to improve before writing it off completely.

Sure, AI is new, but that doesn't excuse simple mistakes. In my experience, tools should make things easier, not harder. If it gives too many false alarms, people will ignore it. We need both better tech and good judgment. But dismissing real problems won't help it improve.
