My french press broke after 6 years and now I'm lost
Last Tuesday morning I dropped the carafe on my tile floor and it shattered everywhere. That thing got me through college and like 3 different apartments, I'm actually kinda bummed about it. I've been using a cheap drip machine I had in storage but it tastes totally different, way more bitter and thin. I'm thinking about trying an aeropress since I've heard good things but I don't know anyone who actually owns one. Has anyone here switched from french press to something else and actually liked it better?

Toss that cheap drip machine out the window and try the aeropress. It's not the same as a french press but it makes a cleaner cup, less sludge at the bottom which is honestly a plus. I switched a few years ago and now I can't go back, the cleanup is way easier too just pop the puck out. My buddy still uses his french press every morning and swears it's the only way, but he's also the guy who argues about toast being the perfect food so take that for what it's worth. Give it a shot, worst case you're out thirty bucks and you can smash it on the floor like your last one.

Oh boy, here we go. Six years with a french press is a solid run, but let's be real, it's a glass cylinder with a plunger. You can find another one for like 20 bucks at Target. The cheap drip machine thing is the real problem, that's why it tastes bad. If you're that attached to your morning routine, just buy the same exact press again and move on with your life.

Right, because my broke self definitely has $20 to spare on a new press when I can just use a fork to mash the grounds in a mug and call it French press style. I’ve done it before, tastes like mud and regret, but it’s cheap. My morning routine is a disaster anyway, I usually spill half my coffee down my shirt while trying to find my keys. Maybe the real problem is just me, not the equipment. You ever try to scrub coffee stains out of a white shirt with just dish soap?
