Rant: Last Tuesday was the worst day I've had on the job in 20 years

I was doing a service upgrade in an old house near Topeka and hit a live knob and tube wire that wasn't marked on any print. Took me 4 hours to safely isolate it and rewire around it, lost a full day's pay on the quote. Has anyone else run into surprise cloth wiring in old homes that wasn't in the inspection report?

Bought a 20 dollar instant pot knockoff at the flea market and it either saved my meal prep or ruined my Sunday dinners

It worked great for 3 weeks then started burning everything on the bottom, but the real brands are 80 bucks so which side do you fall on for cheap kitchen gear that might crap out on you?

Switched from wood to metal posts on my last job and I'm not going back

I used to think wood posts looked more natural and were easier to work with. But after setting 30 metal posts on a 200-foot run near Springfield last week, the time saved on digging and leveling convinced me. Has anyone else found a specific type of metal post that holds up better in wet clay soil?

Dropped $500 on a professional resume writer and got absolutely nothing useful

I was stuck in my job search for like 4 months and getting desperate so I found this highly rated resume service online based out of Chicago. Paid $500 for their premium package which was supposed to include a rewritten resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile overhaul. What I got back looked like they just ran my old resume through a template and changed a few verbs to buzzwords. The cover letter had a paragraph about a job I never applied for. I emailed them asking for fixes and they just sent the same thing back with different fonts. Total waste of money and honestly set me back a few weeks because I was waiting on them. Has anyone actually gotten results from these services or am I better off just doing it myself?

Three car jams in five days from a faulty door lock switch that the manufacturer swore was tested, and I lost over 20 hours of overtime fixing the same damn problem each time because the service tool kept giving false clearances - has anyone else seen this on a 2023 MCE controller?
