Scanning at 600 DPI showed me dust I never saw before
I was fixing up my grandma's 1962 wedding photo last weekend and decided to scan it at 600 DPI instead of the usual 300. Turns out what I thought was film grain was actually a layer of tiny scratches and dust that looked like snowfall across her dress. Google a forum post about archival scanning and it said most phone apps can't fix damage you can't even see clearly at lower res. I spent 2 hours using a free app called Snapseed just to heal out spots one by one. Has anyone else found hidden flaws after bumping up the scan quality? It made me wonder what else I've been missing in my other old photos.
