I fully punched my couch during a VR rhythm game and my shoulder hasn't been the same since
Was trying to beat my high score in that one where you slice blocks to the beat, and I got a little too enthusiastic on a downward slash. My fist went straight through the cushion and into the wooden frame, and I heard a pop. Spent the next three days explaining to my chiropractor that yes, my injury was from 'virtual boxing', and he just shook his head the whole time.

Two inches of foam barely cushions a full-force VR punch.

Reading that "two inches of foam" comment made me wince, because I did something even dumber last month. I was so into a VR horror game that I tried to lean on a virtual railing that didn't exist, and I face-planted right into my bookshelf. My shoulder still clicks when I reach for the top shelf, and I have to explain to my friends that my injury came from "phantom furniture". The immersion is real until your body reminds you that physics doesn't care about your high score. I've now cleared a ten-foot radius around my play area, but it's like learning to walk again after every intense session. Honestly, we're all just one enthusiastic swing away from a trip to the chiropractor.
