Just realized how crazy it is when clients send Pinterest pics for stonework

I had a client who showed me a picture of some ancient Roman wall. They wanted it copied exactly for their garden patio. The stone they picked was all wrong for our climate, and the design had details we just can't do here. We spent an hour trying to explain why moss and lichen don't grow on command. It got so absurd that I almost offered to age the stones with a hammer and dirt. In the end, we settled on something simpler, but I still laugh thinking about it.

I mean, seriously, this happens all the time. Last week a client wanted a cobblestone path from some European castle, but the stones they picked would've turned into ice rinks in winter. We ended up using something way more boring but it's safe.

European castle cobblestone isn't that dangerous, is it?

Yeah, cobblestone from old castles is OFTEN polished smooth from years of use. That makes it really slippery, even without ice. The uneven shapes can cause trips and falls, especially if you're not careful. Water pools in the dips between stones too, which is a big drainage problem.
