PSA: Got pushed to use bent couplers on a tight deadline
My site manager said a few slightly bent couplers are fine to finish the job on time. I worry it compromises the whole structure's strength. How do you handle these calls?

The manufacturer's tolerance is usually under 2 degrees for a reason.

Oh, 'slightly bent couplers are fine,' huh? What's next, using duct tape for structural support? I love how deadlines suddenly make bad ideas sound reasonable. Do we get a bonus if the building leans more than the Tower of Pisa? Or is that just considered a design feature now?

Heard a safety guy say even a small bend can cut a coupler's strength by like 20 percent... which totally backs up your worry. It messes with how the load spreads. Maybe push back by asking to measure the actual bend against the manufacturer's spec sheet.
