Pro tip: I once believed manual snaking was sufficient for all drain clears, but a stubborn main line blockage shifted my view.

For years, I avoided using hydro-jetting equipment, thinking it was overkill for most residential jobs. After spending hours on a clog that wouldn't budge with traditional methods, I saw how effective high-pressure water can be at removing roots and buildup. What situations make you reach for hydro-jetting over other techniques?

You avoided hydro-jetting for years? That's hard to believe after seeing what it can do. I've encountered main line clogs where roots had woven into the pipe walls, and a snake just pokes holes without removing the mass. In older homes with decades of scale buildup, hydro-jetting strips everything clean where chemicals fail. Once had a restaurant line packed with solidified grease, and only high-pressure water restored full flow. Those situations make it the only real option.

Dealing with those clogs must've been brutal, hydro-jetting saved the day.

But isn't hydro-jetting kinda pricey compared to renting a snake? I mean, if it's just a simple clog, sure, try the cheaper fix first. But idk, once you've got roots or years of gunk, that high-pressure water is the only thing that really cleans it out. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen folks waste money on chemicals and weak snakes when the jet would've fixed it for good. Like, if your pipes are old, you're just buying time until the next backup. Spending more upfront can save you from constant headaches later.
